Our current Virginia pilot supports acknowledgments with a notary who already personally knows the signer. General availability and unfamiliar-signer identity verification are not yet offered. Contact us to confirm whether your situation is supported.
For signers
The current workflow accepts unsigned, static PDF documents and requires the signer to be in the United States. Ask the receiving organization whether it accepts the intended electronic document before arranging a session.
- Have a camera, microphone, and reliable internet connection.
- Provide your own name, address, and location accurately.
- Review the document and consent to electronic records and the recorded session.
- Let the notary assess the requested act and the identification requirements.
For notaries
The current workflow requires an active Virginia electronic notary commission, a supported digital signing certificate, and independent review of your commission and certificate association. The notary must be physically in Virginia for the supported session. Creating an account does not approve a commission.
- Submit commission and certificate details in the notary workspace.
- Wait for independent verification before accepting appointments.
- Keep your private signing certificate and password under your control.
